Hi, can anyone tell me where i can download VAGCOM from? and for free, if possible... and would it work with a polo 9n, if so, where do i plug it into? and secondly is the software hard to use? and whats the chances of screwing my car up... as you can see im no technogeek. I only want the software to do the "Dial sweep" and window open/closure via key.
thankssss

i think you need 4.09 version which i beleive is on the archive from the rosstech website, problem is the licence, you can use an ebay cable but the license will be shareware and you cant use all the features which i dont think will allow you to do the cluster test (dial sweep as you have put) and remote windows cant be done via vagcom, well i dont think it can with a polo, i know with early audis etc it could if you had the right code for the ccm

It depends

If you have a single slot radio such as a BETA or GAMMA then you need 409.1

If you have a double slot radio such as an RCD310, RCD250 or similar, then youll need 704.1 upwards which is more expensive as you need a CANBUS compatible one.

good point, im just assuming its an early 9n and not a very late 9n or 9n2 or 3,
our lasses is a 9n on a 54 and its not canbus so not sure when it was introduced

yeah mines a 52 plate, lol all this diagnostics stuff sounds really expensive, so ill put it on hold atm, another quick question would be, what size alloys shall i go for? 16"s or 17"s?
I've noticed theres a bit of a buzz with smaller sizes wheels like 13's, but personally im not too keen on them. so yeah, 16s or 17s?????
thanksssss

the diagnostic thing isnt as bad as it sounds once you know what youre looking for, i mean there are the scan tools just for diagnosing etc but for the things you mentioned then yeah you want to be looking at vagcom (vcds as it now seems to be called on the later versions)

16s and 17s look really well on a 9n with a nice drop, 17s look a bit big though without the car being lowered any, if you stick to vw/audi oem rims you cant go far wrong really as they tend to suit other models nicely, theres some nice skoda and seat rims actually to which you dont see being put on a vw as often
