I have heard from some websites, I think poloregister was one, that some of the Coupe's were made in Spain, but the majority came from Wolfsburg. They only carried out large scale Polo production in Spain with the Mark 3. Hope thats of some help.

All the bits of my car that I've noticed 'made in' stamps on simply say "West Germany", so I assume Wolfsburg. Mine's a 1986 C squareback.
