Vibrations/Misfiring when under load

Hello all,

I have a 6N2 Polo GTI.

Basically two weeks ago the car overheated, I took it to my garage and they said it was the thermostat, they replaced it and everything was fine up until last week. The car doesn't overheat but now once the car is warm it will misfire and vibrate when in gear, when out of gear it is fine.

I took it back to the garage and they couldnt diagnose it and said take it to a specialist. I took it to VW and they say the temperature sensor and ignition leads need changing and hopefully that will fix it! They quoted me £300 to do it.

Anyhow screw them and i've ordered the parts of eurocarparts, I dont understand how they can say changing HT leads would be an hours job, surely it's pretty simple right?

Any advice you can give me in changing HT and temp sensor would be much appreciated especially pics :) hopefully this will fix the problem.

Thanks in advance

Ht leads sometime short out due to the age, arking across the leads will make it run rough also....
As for fitting the leads there all different lengths and yeah are easy mate.
I would also swap the spark plugs over aswell just to make sure.

Temp sensor will be easy aswell just ring up Vw and ask how it's fitted then go ahead and fit it....
Should run nice after...

Have you got any warning lights on the dash?

Could be a faulty lambda sensor?
