hey, I'm new to this forum, but so far it seems quite helpful.
I've a question..
Just bought a 1995 6n polo mk4.
and it's got those door protector strips on (black strips on the side of the car)
but i want them gone, becuase they just look ugly.
was wondering if anyone had any previous experience of doing it and know a decent way in which im not going to scratch my paintwork
Cheers
Dan

Easy
From this
to this
Fishing line works well
wrap it round two bits of dowel and then get behind the trim and gently saw thro the adhesive backing
Once removed WD40 and elbow grease (all good DIY places sell it)
Good to go

cant you remove them with a hairdryer as im after doin it myself
the only problem is i can get hold of any elbow grease

Can't see how a hairdryer would do anything - other than warm em up - it's the sticky residue from the trim tape that js hard to remove and solvents may damage the paint - WD40 softens it up and you can pick it off then polish the paint to get rid of the last bits

you could use the hairdryer to heat up the sticky bit and pull them off
