yo, i have just joined up to this site after being on club polo for the last few years. i noticed theres much more info on newer polos over here. i previously owned a mk3 1.0 cl, then owned a mk3 gt slammed on ats classic and resprayed in candy white. but have sold these and i have now bought a 52 plate 1.4tdi sport in black with 90,000 miles on clock, 3 door for £2900.

the car has been ok so far but have had some lil probs and my solutions!

6cd changer (in dash) kept eating my cds : chucked it

original cassette player kept blowing fuses: chucked it and replaced with sweet pioneer head unit

car started juddering and stuttering: put new injector harness wiring in

problems to sort

oil level light keeps coming on: going to do oil change and replace the sensor

front end creaks over speedbumps: replacing front rear bushes with cupra ones and new arb bushes

air bag light has come on: fault reader says airbag igniter resistance to high? p1666 code. think it came on when i adjusted driver seat so damaged loom underneath maybe?

alternator fault: havent looked yet but aparently i could have broken a little wire so some tape and solder should fix it!

any advice/ideas appreciated! will get some pics up

shame about that in dash changer being nackered, they can fetch a fair amount of money surprisingly,
sounds like its got its niggles but they dont seem too bad to sort, look forward to some pics

yeh i tried to get it repaired but to no avail, ive seen then fetching a bit on ebay but nothing to much.

Let me know how you get on with replacing the bushes, my front end (just front left I think) creaks over speedbumps too, thinking of fitting cupra bushes all round as well. Car sounds good though other than the few niggles mate, and the 1.4tdi is a nice little engine. Get some pics up

yo jamie yeh iw ill let you know when i get round to it, doing an oil change and fitting new level sensor on thursday. yeh mine creaks...im not sure if its the ARB bushes, or front rear bushes that make that horrible noise, but front rear bushes look ok and wel greased. def going for the cupra set up!! i will get some decent pics up when the weather is good and ive given it a good polish as the previous owner had it sat under a tree for a couple months so its a bit dull.

also im not going to drop my car to low, but thinking about a 30mm drop on the standard steels just for a tiny bit of stance and to fill the arch gap a bit and go round corners a bit quicker ha, i hear its ok to go up to 40mm on standard shocks, so 30mm should be fine?

also anyone had probs with there airbag light on and the loom under the seat??

Update!

the alternator fault has now been found and cleared, it was a broken wire under gearbox area, just soldered it back together and shrinked her up bit of tape and cleared the fault!

airbag fault has now also been cleared! tried to clear this with vag come but with no luck. i was pretty sure it was to do with the loom under the seat but it turns out theres probs a lose connection in the steering wheel as i cleared it by hitting (yes hitting) the steering wheel then trying to clear it, and it now gone off.

oil level sensor fault. ordered my new level sensor and it cost 67+ vat from TPS and the part code is 045907660D. had some confusion when ordering so for anyone else with a 1.4tdi 9n thats the level sensor part number you need, expensive thing tho, fitted it right in by the cambelt on side of sump. wil update to see if it stays off .

also changed my oil and filter! oil was filthy. i used quantum platinum oil for PD engines, heard good stuff about it. its not longlife.

little rant to finish with, just because cars have been owned by 1 lady owner it isnt always a good thing. for instance my car is modification free and probs not driven very hard, but it just hasnt been cared for internally (filthy fuel, oil, air, pollen filters and s**t oil) as well as i like to keep them.

1 lady owner is never a viable selling point in my eyes anyway bud, blokes take the pee out of women drivers but then use it as a selling point?? doesnt make sense, in most cases it will have been driven like miss daisy so it would want a good run with some fuel treatment in and a bit of a thrashing to give it a clear out and make sure nothings seized eg turbo veins in the case of yours, curb rash isnt a good look for a car , clutch ridden to death as it would have been mainly small journeys, lots of bad car parking manouvres, and yeah a lot of them use and abuse it so like you say the inside will be terrible,

I don't understand why the whole lady owner thing is that great either. Obviously there's exceptions to the rule but I don't think women in general take better care of cars than blokes do. I've seen both men and women, in equal measure, with cars that just aren't cared for at all.

That said, by complete coincidence all my cars have been previously owned entirely by women. First was a complete shed. Second wasn't too bad but after I bought it I found invoices for replacement seat covers and a dashboard Had scratches all over the roof as well...
However, my current car is pretty much immaculate. Paintwork is in excellent condition and it only has a small parking scuff on it as well. Wheels are good as well but I have a sneaky feeling they've been refurbed lol.

I just ignore all that stuff now. Think the number of owners is much more important than their gender to be honest.

haha ok ok,

a new problem emerged to today!! right i have hung my magic tree (yellow one) on my over engineered cup holder and it was lent over the little cup logo. anyways i lifted the magic tree off today and underneath the rubber layer which coast the plastic was bubbling!! right on the cup logo, must av been an acidy chemical in the magic tree or something. it was slightly damp to from condensation. i ended up peeling it all off, it doesnt look to bad, its been de-badged haha.

yo, lil update, kinda pontless update, but ive just ordered some seat cupra bushes avent i!!
