Hi Guys, Going to be replacing my front wheel bearing this week, I'm familiar of what needs to be done, just wondering if anyone has done one before and IF they needed a special tool to get the old bearing out or can it carefully be tapped out with a hammer?
Cheers

Doesnt the bearing need to be pressed in ?
If it doesnt go in straight, it will only last a few hundred miles tops

To remove youll need a bearing extractor, to fit it needs to be pressed in

On these, yes as the hub is a pain in the ass

Could i remove the swivel hub completely, and take that to a garage for the bearing to be removed and new one pressed in to save unnecessary cost?
So no chance removing if with a soft mallet?

You could if you wanted to!
And no, not a chance, It takes a hydraulic press to get them in/out without damaging the hub on the GTI
