Not a modification but a DIY short story....being a cheapskate I would rather do it myself rather than have sick fit charge me approx £130 to renew my backbox,firstly trawl the local exhaust suppliers for a back box,no joy,funny I didn't think to contact the VW dealers for their price ? (anyone?) then through fleabay and the nearest was in Germany,as I later found out it was Poland,so decided to part with about £48 for a centre section and backbox ( sod the expense,combined postage)from... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3606wt_942 .....and.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT .... and that was delivered within the week to my door,confusion reigned for a while until I realised that I had the factory system fitted (one piece system) and the replacement was a two piece system,further looking underside showed that a VW joining piece would be needed (approx £13 from VW) well I put aside the full morning to tackle the task and with the aid of my pit and angle grinder finished the job in under two hours ( and that included a trip to the tip for the old backbox and a trip to the local haberdashers for two 50 mm X M8 coachbolts as I was felling pretty flush by then and decided new ones would be nicer .
In fact the job was so good I'm going to order another backbox ready for next time..as for the centre section I decided that it wasn't necessary and will keep it with the newly ordered backbox and change the full system next time (if it needs it )

i need to replace mine as its basic a sponge it has so many holes, i want the polo gti twin exhaust as they look niiiice do you know where i could get one CHEAP ?
