Hi folks, i've just bought a 6N2 gti and all is well except that the ns washer jet seems to be blocked, it comes out of the bumper but no water. Any help appreciated!

Holding it out with you hand is the only option I know of. At least that's how I clipped the covers on and off.

No problem :) it's fair enough! I always think its best to ask, just to be sure, before leaping straight in and finding you've done something you shouldnt/caused damage/ done it the hard way ;)

Hope you've got it all fixed

not tried it yet, only bought the car yesterday and last night I got the 'exhaust emissions warning' light - turns out it was a broken wire to the pre-cat lambda sensor.. I'll try the washer jet this weekend. As a sideline, are the GTi gearboxes really that poor? Every forum I look at says the 'boxes are made of green cheese and will need to be replaced.

Cheers Nick

To be honest they arn't great (though I think sometimes people just rave on about the gearbox cos that's all they know, and they forget about what a great little car the gti is ;) )
Some cars are still on their first box (the same one the car left the factory with)
Some have had them replaced
And some have had them replaced more then once.
Generally speaking though, i think once you've had it replaced once you should be ok as I believe they used upgraded parts
The box on my car was replaced a good few years back by the second owner. I've not had any troubles with it *fingers crossed*
Byt have a little search around the forum and you'll find lots of peoples different experiences :D

cheers Verity - i've come to the conclusion that if it needs a 'box then so be it, I only paid £2500 for the car so another few hundred won't be the end of the world....
