Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
SO i haven't got round to taking many update pics- mainly due to not having the weather to go out and clean! Anyway over the past few weeks i have acquired..
16" RX2s
A Jolly good interior clean
Shark fin ariel
And a fresh new key badge
Also refitted standard exhaust thanks to Phils assistance. and raised the ride height slightly. My window switches broke again and after taking them apart and fixing them they still seem to break after a day or so. I think it's down to the glue i'm using to hold the case together, or the connector itself..
Other than paying road tax not much else to report! Will be upgrading the front speakers shortly ad ditching the rude boy sub i still jhave in the boot As well as possible new seats Been achieving over 40 mpg on the motorways recently so Gti is doing me proud touch wood!

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
Cheers Alex!
Flip key i did about 2 years ago so memory is a little vague.
I bought a 433mhz key from ebay-( the case was knackered but i only needed it for the internals) and a blank key case and blade.
Got the blade cut at a local key cutters.
Took the inner circuit board out ,plonked it in the new case along with the blade.
Placed the transponder from one of my spare keys into the new flip key (sits in the top case near the blade)
Reassembled the key and programmed it via vagcom.
Pretty easy overall!
However i just found this on eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1J0-959-753-N ... 2a1aef2865
which may do the trick without buying the new case and circuitry separately.

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread- 16s!
Thanks mate, the ones on there now where refurb'd a few years ago by another forum member but they're a standard colour really.
In other news, Gti refused to start earlier, only after a lot of cranking a gas it spluttered into life, think it may be the coil pack/ ht leads needing a changing....

All in the prep work mate, lots of rubbing, polishing etc to make the surface as smooth as possible.

What did you do your brake calipers with? And how do you keep them clean? As they are not an easy thing to clean! Lol! It takes me ages to clean the wheels and calipers every time I clean the car!

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread- 16s!
Hi Mate, i did mine with Halfords high temp paint a few years ago, in terms of cleaning, i use bilberry wheel cleaner with a wheel brush that looks like a thick paint brush. It fits nicely between the spokes and you and manoeuvre it around to froth the cleaner .
