Handling / shocks?

Hi folks, my '01 GTi has issues, if I'm going round a bend and the surface is bumpy the back end seems to skip about a bit, and if i'm bombing along a country road it doesn't want to stay straight ahead. Does this sound like knackered shock absorbers? There are no knocking sounds from the suspension. Cheers people.....

I had the same problem last summer. I brought some second hand shocks and fixed the problem instantly.

Was just my rear shocks and not springs.

nice one Bradley, thanks for the quick reply too. Looks like another couple of hundred quid required!

No. Look on here and club polo for someone breaking a 6n2. There are a few on club polo now.

It's only the shocks you need. I paid £50 for front and rear. And then sold them for £40 when I broke my car up.

Easy job. I did both sides in 40 mins. Just pay attention when removing your top mounts as they come off in parts so remember the order. Lol

I felt the car was instantly better. Nice to see it wasn't just my car.

Brad - do I need a lift to change them or can I do it on a jack? I've found some on here so looks like I'll be fitting them myself, never done it before so any tips gratefully received! Thanks Nick
