Please help (window related)

This is an SOS to anyone who has replaced their the window regulators and motors.
I obtained some motors and regs but the clips that snap into the window glass clamps were broken. These are the little grey 'runners' that sit on the balck greased 'arms', they hold on to a wire and snap over edge of the black runners before cliping into the window glass clamps.
My question is, how do i free the wire from the jaw of the clip? it appears to be fixed in place by a metal horse shoe type clamp which i cannot shift!
Please help if you can,
Dan

sorted.
New problem though, i have greased up my old regulators and motors and the window is 10x better. However, occasionally the window will reach 2 thirds closed and 'bounce' down to a third open. What causes this?

Its because you have put the glass mounts to close together when you tightened them up, therefore it puts pressure on the motor and it goes back down again.

Alex, thanks for your input.
Can you elaborate on the issue, please?
I dropped the glass back into the clamps without changing their position laterally. Do you mean the nut on the clamp is too tight and that the glass should be gripped only moderately be the clamp?
Also, do VW stock the litte grey clips that attach to the wire as i need a spare?
Many thanks
Dan

Dan, I dont think they stock the clips, though you can modify golf ones to work
When you put the glass back in, there is a little movement left and right on the clamp and you have to get this right in order for the runners to run smoothly.
You must also ensure that the window regulator is in its correct position where its bolted in

Thanks alex,
I have been to TPS and the usual rubbish applied 'you have to pay £90 for the whole thing in order to replce the clip' its so infuriating.
I have 3 clips where one of the arms that hold it in place have been snapped, was thinking i could maybe fashion a new arm out of araldite/plastic weld?
Could you point me in the direction of a thread where the mod of the golf clip is or detail it here?
Thanks again,
Dan

Its the clip in the top left and right of the picture. It connects to the guide wire and over the edge of the runner and then the window glass clamps clip onto the small cube-shaped lump protruding from the part in question.
Its like a skate which slides up and down the black runner, it will be heavily greased.
Hope this makes sense, will upload a picture soon.

Cool. Useful post.
My driver's window stopped working all winter. It would not open even if I held key in open position for 10 seconds. I tested the switches by swapping it over and they seemed to open the passenger's side OK. Yesterday, my driver's window started working! I think the polo doesn't like cold/wet weather.

GRRRRR now the sodding thing wont go all the way down! it stops with around a fifth of the glass still poking out.
I'm close to breaking the car now, its reaching the end of the road, so to speak.
