my montreals are so badly corroding from the inside out that the paint has started flaking badly, just wondered if it is worth me refurbing them or will the same just happen again??
also the centre caps are held in a small piece just wondered if this is easy to remove and replace because again theyre in pritty bad condition, or are these part of the alloy?

Best way to remove centrecaps is to take off the wheel and they just push out from the inside of the alloy. VW ones replaceable at a set of 4 for £20, fairly steep but can make a big difference. As for the refrub I'd get a professional opinion mate.

yeah its not the actual centre cap im on about, its the piece that the caps sit in, sticks out slightly in between the stud holes and the centre bore

The entire thing comes as a single piece that clips into the hole in the wheel. Part number is 1J0 601 171.

With regards to the refurbing - all alloys can potentially corrode. It's just a matter of trying not to damage them and to keep them clean and free of baked on brake dust etc. So long as you get them professionally refurbed they are no more likely to corrode again than anything else. I'd go for it personally, wheels really make a car look it's best.

u can just about make them out in the thrid picture, the centre cap sits in a small hub type piece

It looks like it's part of the alloy in the photos to me. Can you see a join line or anything that would indicate if it's a separate part?

Go and ask your dealer to look at the ETKA page for the 9N alloys. It's got all of the options on it and should be able to tell you if it's a separate part and if you need different centre caps.

yeah gd idea actually asking the dealers is something i never think of lol
