Hi all!
It's a 1.4 8V with no modifications whatsoever. Since I'm a student, progress is slow but finally I can start thinking about giving it a proper look. Anyway here she is
Very first attempt at detailing with blue tack (clay bar) and a coat of cheap turtle wax. Don't worry upgraded to proper stuff since then
As for mods, I'll try to keep it simple. Personally I think it looks really good in white.
Currently waiting for:
- GTI cup holder
- Rear lights from the same GTI (can be seen that one is broken and leaking in water like crazy)
- Bora sunglasses holder
Future mods:
- Repair the headlining asap
- Set of decent alloy wheels (not yet decided between 15s or 16s...dont want a profile too low for everyday use)
- Lowering springs + shocks (looking at eibach 50/35, but I hope its not too low for the roads over here)
- maybe the gti grills, not yet decided
- definitely the front splitter
- rear spoiler if I grab a bargain
Cheers

Welcome to UKPOLOS.NET
Lovely looking Polo you have there and its nice to see another white Polo on here.
Its a shame they never made the GTI in white because it looks great

Thanks for the warm welcome guys
I've always wondered why there aren't any GTIs in white, got my answer there lol. Would love a replica but parts are difficult to source here especially for the GTI. Infact I get most of my parts from the UK because they're a better bargain even with international postage. New parts from VW are waaaay out of my reach so not thinking about that.
First thing would be to get the car fixed. Doing the clutch next Wednesday because its juddering and rattling (99,000 kms) and a service will be due next week. I want to try and remove the lifter/tappet noise and make it sound less like a diesel...if its even possible.
Second thing is a proper stance and wheels. The rest are extras

welcome to the site buddy! Your polo seems well looked after, I always liked them in white. I used to have one myself, a little 1.0 Best of luck with your mods!

thanks d_austin974!
the last 2 days were somewhat big for the car because finally the list of improvements started rolling

Put in the clutch and the difference is night and day. It already has better pulling power at the lower end of the rev range, so I guess better acceleration overall. I didnt push it yet as I'm trying to let it run in abit...even if i wasn't specifically told to do so lol
also fitted the cup holder, sunglasses holder and the fixed rear light yay!
service is due next. My mechanic said I should try synthetic 5w30 oil to try and reduce tappet noise. He said that apart from being higher quality oil overall, the thinner oil would fill the tappets better and improve lubrication. Did anyone have any experience with this?

anyone? 5w30 is not too thin for the engine right? Because it's not listed in the Haynes manual...

I totally agreeee a proper drop is needed, but all in good time

In the mean time I started the hunt for a set of alloy wheels. Should I go for the original RX2s?

I've heard some horror stories with 195/40s and potholes...so I'm trying to keep it practical. Most of the main roads here are decent, but some of them are pretty terrible and I'm scared of constantly damaging them.

195/40's can be pretty harsh on a poor road surface, especially if your running coilovers but they do look very nice on the car and fill the arches really well. 16" wheels look great on the Polo and in my opinion the GTI's should of had 16" RX11's from the factory like the MK3 Anniversary Edition Golf GTI's.
15" wheels look great on the Polo too but the 15" RXII's in my eyes look too small, its probably because they are split rims and appear smaller whereas a set of ATS Cups or Ronal Turbo/LS wheels look great in 15".

Don't get me wrong, I think 16s are the perfect look especially with BBS RX1s, RX2s or the Dotz Mugellos. It's that I really don't think they're suited for our roads

Also not a fan of the ronals and the ats cups are quite expensive! However google led me to this pic (apologies to the owner for using his pic)...

...they don't look half bad on white even if I won't go that low.
Also found these RX look alikes:

Anyway I'll let the exams pass first, then save for a nice set in the summer
