Hi. Thought it was time for me to share a little bit more about the old GTI :)

I've had i for a little more than 2 problemfree years (thank god, knock on wood and all that stuff  )

I'll try to get it all up to speed with what I have done to it so far.
Here is a few shots of the car as I bought it in febuary 2009.

At this point it was sitting pretty much stock. Apart from the 17" AEZ Xilo's H&R 35 mm springs on stock shocks and the 3 rear windows tinted.

First thing I did to it was install a Pioneer AVIC-X1BT Navigation headunit with a flipout screen and a the dome light from the Passat W8.
Image

Absolutely a brilliant domelight. The 2 red LED's a great at night.

Next up. Springtime of 2009 came and I had a set of 7,5x17" BBS Le Mans Replica's from my old Golf 3 lying around. So put a set of 195/40-17 Hankook S1 Evo's on them and fitted them to the Polo.
Image
Image
Image
Not the worst look in the world if I say so myself (which I do 8) ) But with the car that high and 17" wheels it's not really he best look for at Mk. V Polo.

I the fitted Bosch aerotwin windshield wiperblades and an aerotwin reararm and blade from the new Scirocco in the back.
Image
(also fixed the red I in the front and rear GTI badges. They were starting to look a bit tired)
Image

Next up, I fitted 4300K Xenon in my fog lights. And a black German Army VW badge from a Golf Mk 4.
Image
Image

Wintertime 2009: Bought 14" Steelies with wintertires for the GTI from an old lady who never used them on her Mk. V Polo 1,4. She allmost never drove in the winter. Got them cheap and they were allmost like new.

Image

Springtime 2010: Gave the enginebay a good ones over. Needed it badly
Image
Image

A bra found it's way on to the car aswell. And the BBS Le Mans Replica's made it back for a second season on the Polo.
Image
Image
Image

Next up, I had to try the red edge on the grill. Loved it fron the second I put it on :P
Image
Image

And also the foglights got som goldtinted. And 6000K D2S bulbs in the headlights.
Image
Image
Image

Went to Polo Club Denmark's annual International Meet that year with a friend who has the seventh Polo GTI to roll of the line.
Image
Image
Image
Image
And got 14th in the top 15 Show and shine competition. :)

From that point nothing much happened... Attended a few meets, enjoyed the rest of the summer and the car. then winter came and the steelies went back on of course.

Then this spring it was time for a bit of a stylechange...

I found a set of 7x16" BBS RX's from a guy who had them lying around for the last 6 years, and before that he only used them 2 seasons.
They still looked like new, so I bought them and then ordered 4 x 195/40-16 Hankook S1 Evo's for them. Had good experiences with those tyres from the BBS LM reps. Also a H&R Cup Kit 60/40 suspension and new brakes was ordered.
Image

And now as it stands today with the new kit on :) :

Please let me know what you guys think. I know it's not the biggest project compared to some of the other cars in here. :)

love it! Did you need to modify the wiring for the dome light? I think the RX wheels look really good, much better than the first ones....

I actually bought it as a kit with an adaptor to put between the original wiring and the light. And then I had to run a wire down to the lightswitch to light up the symbols and so that they work with the dimmerswitch.

A few additions I forgot:

- The Pioneer navi got stolen a few weeks after I installed it and got replaced with a "normal" 1DIN Pioneer headunit.
- I installed comfort blinkers. So I only have to touch the indicator stalk once and it blinks three times in the desired direction, for changing lanes, exitind roundabouts and such.
- Installed a Cobra remote system for the centrallocking. Works with the comfort opening/closing of the windows. (It was an opption from the dealer in Denmark)
- Changed the microswitch in the bootlid
- Put LED bulbs in the parkinglights, licenseplate lights ant bootlight.
- The antenna has been switched out with a slightly modified Suzuki Grand Vitara 7 inch one.

cheers. Does the dome fit right into the headlining without modification? I've found a supplier on Ebay but for the light and adapter it's £60!

No. It's a bi larger. You need the metal frame for the headlining to get it "to stick"...

But with the frame it's very easy to mark where you have to cut (with a very sharp knife/scalpel or similar)

There is a guide for it right here :)

I now miss my old silver Gti now.

Car looks clean. Not too sure about 17" wheels tho. 16" looks nicer in my opinion. But it's a nice looking car and the bra looks cool.

Looks really nice mate. A nice clean example of this brilliant little car. Like the dome light as well. Will have to look into that one day

This looks awesome! The ride height is absolutely perfect... is that definitely a 60/40 kit it's running? I wasn't sure that would work with 16"s

It may not be the biggest project, but by far one of the cleanest and best looking around!
