How to improve performance on 1.2 60 ps Polo?

Hello guys, I've bought the new shape Polo Moda - 1.2 60 ps. Lovely car, but lacking in power. Is there anything I could fit to improve performance etc? I was thinking of a new air filter, but don't know where to start. Also, are there any sites which sell accessories for the new shape yet? Cheers.

you wont really gain much in terms of performance on it without spending loads of money to be honest.

I have an air filter that will fit if you want it but it only really makes it sound better.
Other than that you could de cat it (this can be done by companies like powerflow, blue flame etc) and see if someone could map it your not looking at big gains though.

Either way welcome to the site and enjoy the car

I wish I got a bigger engine in my SE, it's got no power at all!!

My old 700cc turbo charged Smart Fortwo had more oomph than this thing ... and that's no joke!!

I've dropped down from a 2.2 litre dci Xtrail to the Polo, so feeling the pain at the moment. It's great for nipping back and forwards though. Saving a few quid per month on fuel too.

Heard the 1.2 70ps feels much quicker than the 60ps. I wonder what differentiates these two engines, maybe a remap?

Several tuning companies have ecu upgrades including DNA Tuning, Revo etc, have a shop around, they will get you a bit more oomph :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll look into these options.

*Any of you know of any decent UK websites for 'new shape' Polo accessories? Searching the internet just brings up stuff for the older models.

Nope, the 60PS is 6v and 70PS 12v

Its not a bad engine. Compared to the 1.4 85PS its nippier from a standing start, more economical and chain-driven so no cambelt replacement to worry about.

Reducing the weight would increase the performance. :)

I went from a 205bhp 300lbf astra cdti to my polo 1.2 60ps

I can honestly say I don't find it that bad. It won't set the Tarmac on fire but gets me from a to b and can still break the speed limit lol

I have had cars running almost 300bhp etc and for the extra in fuel road tax and insurance costs it ain't worth it
