Karl.... ehm... I dont know... but I think ppl have done that before. The G40 engine might be made of slightly more hardwaring stuff though as it has to cope with the boost pressure

Though I think the difference for CL to GT is basically that without the blower.
Oh, wait... you need the different ECU as well

Digifant (multi-injector) vs MonoMotronic (single injector) to go either way - CL to GT/40, GT/40 to CL.. *doh*
ah well
I still have thoughts of doing such a thing to my poor little 1043, assuming the pistons don't come up so high that they foul on the injectors (same bore, just different stroke). Making it Mpi would bring the power up around the 60hp mark, though the torque would only get a very small boost it would be over an even better (or at least, higher) spread than before

Which is about all the power I need (always knew 45 would be a bit borderline for comfortable cruising)... and Johnny Insurance or Mabel Tax need never know and in all likelihood wouldn't give two parps anyway as they seem mostly interested in cubic capacity. Plus it wouldn't be so much heavier, especially compared to putting a larger engine in. The fastest 1-litre on the block?
(pop a blower on there for more power (90hp), some nitrous as well to help the bottom end torque, a couple of small/light electric booster motors on the rear to help with fuel consumption/overtaking/tyre and clutch slip on take-off, take out some unneccessary things... like the rear bench, passenger seat, spare tyre, stereo and most of the fuel and washer fluid

fill the tyres with helium... and get ready for some real 1-litre Corsa ass whuppin muhahaha

)
Uh... where was I... oh yes
Krupa if you're maybe not *so* attached to your current car - why not sell on the (super clean looking) GT and go to work on the G40 as your only car - avoiding all that engine swapping ugliness? Assuming the minor MOT work is truthfully minor (ie a new tyre, replacing a blown bulb - phone the seller and ask them for solid details)... Put on the clear lights, wheels, and the other easily transferrable custom bits, take THAT one for the respray instead of your current car..... hm? That way may especially work more convincingly what with the prospect what may be £300+ worth of work (engine swap, respray) plus £300 insurance looming on what is really an £800 car (the GT)... vs just some tweaking, parts swapping and a spray on a £1500+ car that's being sold off cheap. I suspect the premium hike may be a little more "worth it" for a real one than a chop-up.
Besides there's the matter of the extra roll bar etc if you haven't got one fitted to yours.
If the work that needs done really is major... highlight how much value this will add to your current one, and you can sell both off later if needs be to cover your student loan costs

(course, you don't have to follow through with that once it's all finished)
(karl i think the third line of convincing dad will work best.. he might offer to help out then. krupa drop in some of the lines about all the modern cars it can nuke especially in pure power-to-weight terms... it p1sses all over the GTi and various other modern hot hatches for one thing, but dont ask me for details at the moment.. however the truth is out there, somewhere. i've seen it

)
oh... and krupa mate... regarding Jabbasport.. i'm still none the wiser. Can you explain it to me in plain english, no hardcore tuner jargon and stuff about perishing seals (little wonder, they live in the arctic the poor devils) in lots of little scroll boxes?

(IE Stage 2 supercharger = ??)
spuffe!
best of luck and bonné chance!
