hey guys,
just had a look at alloy wheels today.
ive sort of narrowed down to 2 choices.

18x7.5/18x8 Audi RS4 Replicas £920
18x8 Toora T950 £1040





do u guys think 18" with 215/35/18 fit ok?

The Toora T950 doesn't suit the car well. If I had to choose I'd go for the RS4 replica's.

But I wouldn't go for 18 inch rims. 17 inch is already big for a small car such as the Polo, and also the maximum Volkswagen approves.

215/35/18 will make the ride really firm. Your car will be uneasy on worn surfaces on highways. Not to forget the increased sharp edge between grip and sliding. Low weight combined with such big tires will increase aqua-planing dramaticly.

18 inch if you prefer looks above ride-quality.

RS4s look nice on the Polo but simple 5 spoke alloys also look nice. If you have the money or the contacts get the Kahn Wheels RS-C becuase they look wicked as they spin.


RS4s are becoming a bit too popular with the Golf and Bora drivers and they have been done by Polo drivers on the contintent but the Kahn Wheels haven't. Yes one chap from Mexico has them on his Sedan Polo but Sedan says it all. Photoshop it and see what it looks like.

kahns are a bit expensive... RSCs were my dream wheels.

tooras have to be 2nd as they look similar

whats the maximum wheel size that will fit without arch modz? does anyone on UK polos have 18s on a 9n?

RS4s are getting popular and i feel that im ripped off when drivers in glasgow are charging me £920 and i know i can get them for around £700 so no way im paying that..

iirc i dont think we've seen 18s yet. I prefer the tooras cause (as ally said) RS4 rims are starting to become old news. the tooras kinda look like the RS6 rims (which are loads better imo)

5 spoke tooras i think will look better when spinning.

some ppl are saying 18" is too big for polo 9n?

You can fit 18 inch rims but be sure the ET is lower than standard or fit some spacers to prevent the wheels from touching the inside of the wheelarches. Also lowering the car will take some good research.

I say it's weird to put wheels on a car when the car isn't designed for the size of wheels. And when ít doesn't fit, force to make the wheels fit.

18 inch wheels weigh alot. Aloy wheels are not so light as you think. The rotating mass does affect the steering-quality. Tires are a lot more expensive than the 17 inch tires.

i have had 18 inch rs4 + 18inch bbs rc wheels on my 9n with the big 225x40x18inch tyres at the standard ride height and never had any problems with clearance but both sets looked far too big.
i have gone for 17inch audi tt competition wheels as they fit the car much better and look about the rite size

i think the tooras come with ET35. is that lower than standard? im not planning to lower it yet.

so 225/40/18s will fit without rubbing? but what if carrying passengers/loads?
were your 18" 8 inch wide?

OZ wheels have 18x8" listed for the Polo 9N.
does that mean that it would fit on without problems?

Hey Aaron,

18" do fit, the only thing that might need to be modded is the mud flaps.

Without modding you probably wont get full lock and if you hit big bumps you will get scuffing in the arches, and I think you can get it lowered only to a max of 30-35mm. But ET-value is also important. Wheels with a deep dish (ET 20 or so) means the wheels will get out of the wheelarch.
You should check this.

But as you see, it's not that simple and your car can get damaged.

i think the Tooras are ET35.
i didnt get mudflaps for my Polo
so i think the wheels will be within the arches.
The administrator on www.polo9n.com (Daniel) has 18x8 with 215/35/18 and ET30 and it looks fine.

my car is a 1.2 3cyl so it aint fast to start with
