VW POLO NREG 1.4cc- Starting problems

Turn the ignition on but the car dont start. Checked the starter motor no problems with it. But the car starts sometimes and then suddenly dont start.
Its a VW Polo N Reg 1.4cc.

sounds like the ignition switch, quite common

not really, but those are the symptoms, try wiggling the key as you start it, and rock the steering wheel. but again the only way of ruling this out is to change it and see if its the same. git of a job mind, part is cheap though

check your ignition distributor, there a common thing to go with out warning on polo's. it's the little black box about 2"x2" thats bolted to the bulkhead on passenger side.
