driving along i had a thumping and banging noise like my inner cv joint has gone.. then a whine like i had a touring car..

it still drives fine but whines in 1st 2nd 3rd drives in 4th fine but cant get 5th.

am i right in thinking the rivets on my diff/final drive have gone?? can i get away with replacing the diff????

Id recommend you get the gearbox fully reconditioned as you'll end up with problems further down the line if you don't.
