Can someone help me with some advice for replacing the wheel bearing and outer CV on the 6n2 gti.
I have rang VW an they advised me the wheel bearing is not sold seperately from the actual hub, so i need some advice on replacing the hub.
Also, i notcied my outer CV had splattered grease over the control arm and wheel so may aswell replace this whilst i'm there.
Any advice?
Many thanks,
Dan

You'l need to remove the hub assembly to gain access to the wheel bearing. You'll need to get the old bearing pressed out by a mechanic and the new one pressed in- expect to pay about 20.
Once the hub is off the cv joint isn't too hard, alot of bashing with a hammer!

Be prepared to need the tracking done once you have had it done, i had my CV boot changed last week and now the tracking is out again

don't need to have the old bearing pressed out as i've gotta buy a whole new wheel hub from VW (they don't sell the bearing separate) if its not too much of a job i was going to do it but i reckon i'll just take a hit on labour.

Can someone list the actual parts i need to replace in order to mend the wheel bearing, i'm not sure VW are selling me the right parts. Currently i have a wheel bearing mount.

Ok: so have you bought the hub from VW yet? Why don't you just buy a wheel bearing from GSF? You don't need a whole new hub...
I bought a new bearing from Camberly auto factors for around 30, took the hub off, gave it to my garage out with the old in with the new.

Youd need the wheel bearing itself, two circlips and a new driveshaft nut
