anyone tried cutting there springs on a 9n?

possibly taking maximum of one coil out the rear so that they can still seat correctly and stay in place when the car is fully jackedup, the fronts i thoought one could also just put a spacer or a few washers inbetween the strut hat and the top nut to keep the top and bottom spring seats closer together to ensure seating and keeping in place once a coil or so is cut out.
