Front fog lamp and cruise retrofit kits? UPDATE PG2 - Cruise

A few people have asked me about retrofitting foglamps, but no one actually seems to have attempted doing it.
I've been doing a bit of part number referencing in my parts catalogue...
Would there be interest in a complete kit that includes (everything brand new):
- Front fog lamps
- Replacement fog lamp bumper grills
- All nuts and bolts required for installation
- Replacement OE headlamp switch, allowing fog lamps to be operated as if they were factory installed
- Full wiring loom
- Instructions
The bad news is the kits won't be cheap

Total cost would be around the £200 mark for everything shipped to your door.
FWIW, a single fog lamp on its own from VW costs just shy of €90, so in hindsight, I think a kit represents good value.
Feedback welcomed.

A photocopy of the instructions would be great :]

Surprised at the lack of feedback. Any constructive criticism (good/bad)is welcomed.
I don't have instructions yet:
If someone's interested in a kit and willing to travel to me, I'll knock a chunk off the price and also fit it for free. I'll take pics along the way and make a PDF.

Still a possibility doing it on my car come September Ash when I'm back up North we could put a kit(t) (ha) together and photograph is step-by-step so we could provide the instructions and a how-to guide to installing the fogs. I know the OE headlight switch isn't very expensive and wouldn't save a lot cutting this bit out of the kit - but alot of people are adding foglights to basic spec cars that didn't come with them originally, which tends to also mean there are a lot of blank switch covers on the dashboard by the Hazard Lights button - maybe retro-fitting a switch in here would be a possibility? Eitherway, I'm keen mate, hope this takes off it's a good package deal!

Thanks for the feedback Jamie.

FWIW, this is what my Sport dash looks like (ignore the lack of everything, just look at the row of buttons at the top)
As you can see, the "not so basic" spec cars have lots of blanks as well

All I've got is a hazard warning lights switch and rear demister switch.
A suitable OE switch that'd that'd fit in that row and work with fog lamps doesn't actually exist, so you'd have to use another switch and it'll end up looking like a botch. I think the OE headlamp with front fog capability switch is the way to go.
On another note, I'm also thinking of putting retrofit cruise control kits together. You can currently get them for £100 posted, but they don't work with the 1.2l models. I reckon I'll be able to do a kit for around £15 less which'll work with
any engine.

I'd be really interested in the cruise control kit as I do quite a few motorway miles
Had a look on eBay at fog lights (About £75 for the kit) and about £25 for the foglight switch from a breakers and then about £35 quid for the wiring loom from CarMedia - am I missing anything else?

Ah, I'd never seen that before. It's not a bad price either. I'm still not sure how much I could put a kit together for. It might actually be cheaper to buy all the bits of eBay! When (if) Jamie decides to retro fit fog lamps to his car, I'd be able to state a definite price. I'm just gauging interest at the moment.
With regards to what you asked earlier, you need a set of 6 fog lamp nuts and bolts from VW. I'm not sure how the carmedia loom is made, but if it doesn't have an inline fuse holder and fuse, it'd be a good idea to add one just to be safe. Still, £42 shipped...can be done cheaper

Alright Ash,
Just rang CarMedia and it is a genuine loom and you just run it from the headlights to the back of the foglight switch

Thanks Mike.
Still, you
should put a fuse in line. The wire that feeds the front fog lamps in my car's (stock) wiring loom goes from the headlight switch to one side of a fuse in the fusebox. a wire runs from the other side of that fuse to the fog lamps.

I understood what your saying, all I'm trying to say is there should be an inline fuse (if not already included) in the loom.
