Hi guys,

Recently bought a polo gti after dreaming of one for ages and finally being able to get one insured!

The car has developed a fault where it keeps jumping out of 5th, 1,2,3,4th are fine however. I know that the polo gearbox is terrible to say the least as is a common failure - i knew this before - i know this now - I STILL LOVE THE CAR!

Ive seen the thread and the most likely cure is a recon gearbox - any other options availabe and how much should it cost me to get sorted? im located in east london but i am willing to travel to get a good deal!

FYI - car has done 122k with full vwsh.

Your gear box sounds like it could do with a recon especially given the milage. There not cheap but it's preferred than getting a new one.

It does sound like your box is on its way out unfortunately

Expect to pay between £350-400 for a good recon box and another £100+ for a new clutch.

I can also vouch for these guys, delivery was reasonable and the box is absolutely great. I know mine was only a 1.0 but their service was great

the gearbox was replaced 10k ago! will get in touch with these guys asap and see what they can do for me? out of curiosity
if i was to sell the car as it is how much could i expect to get?

it is completley standard, 122k with fsh, 3 door in silver, few age related marks but nothing major at all - engine is sweet!
