Just wanted to know where the induction is for the air intake for the engine.

I sometimes have flooding in my area and wanted to ensure I don't drive through any really DEEP PUDDLES of WATER that could rush up the air intake and hydrolyse the engine. It's happened to a lot of people I know with their cars!

My last car had an air intake behind the front bumper which left about 8 inches cleareance before water rushed into the engine if driving into a Ford for instance.

So, anyone know where the Polo GTI takes in it's air?

still i wouldnt be going through water too fast eh!!!!!!!!!

ther is the intake at the drivers front also behind the bumper attatched to the undertray

Now this is bad news. I may have to do some mods to allow the air to be taken in near the top of the engine then. Need to think about this. Water and air intakes to low on a car are not a good mix. Having just looked, with the air intake on the bottom of the plastic engine plate, it should be okay if driving through the water at good speed, say 30 mph - this will mean surfing on the engine plate, but that's better than submersing the engine by driving through really slowly. Still needs more thought though.
