Does the sub run from the speaker wiring or some connector off where the CD changer would go? If it doesnt use the CD changer port i would think you would be ok. If it does then you could always figure which pins you needed to tap into to run the sub

You can run a single slot player and the ipod lead, but not a changer and the ipod lead. The ones that work with the OE headunit are crap imo with limited functionality. I'd just get a decent aftermarket HU.

Did what I did? I got rid of the stock HU and cd changer for an aftermarket Pioneer HU three and a half years ago! I love it, and it still doesn't feel dated at all after all these years. Can browse through my music just like you do on the ipod and it's quick. Even works with the latest gen iphones/ipods. The only "criticism" is the lack of BT, but I knew that. Tempted to get a double din navigation setup next year, but I'm worried my car might get broken into
What I was trying to get at with my previous post is with the single slot Cd player, there's a button marked CD changer - this can either be used for a CD changer (duh!), an iPod lead or something like one of those old-school Phatboxes.

Lol yeah the obvious answer to me was an aftermarket head unit but I was trying to answer without suggesting that

If you get an Xcarlink then you can have both the CD changer and the ipod connectivity. I used to have one, was decent enough because it let you control the music from either the ipod or the radio itself, while the VW one was head unit controlled only.
I now have a Pioneer unit though which is a lot better. Starting to see a common theme here...
