I think I've just melted a piston My car started misfiring really badly last night - I got a compression test this morning and found there is no compression on no.4 cylinder. There is oil coming out of the oil filler cap and has poured out of the dipstick pipe and the engine is rattling really badly.

I'm going to take the head off on Monday to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure that's what the problem is.

I've only been able to find one from some breakers near Manchester. They wanted £1200 for it with the box and charger which I don't need, and I haven't heard good things about them either, so I think I'll start looking into a rebuild now...

there was someone on Pitstop selling a chargerless engine...

When/who was that? I have put a post up on the Pitstop forum, but nobody has told me about any engines yet...

I know of one guy in Kent who sold an engine on eBay a few weeks ago. He's on the Pitstop forum if that's the guy you're thinking of...
