Bought my first car which is a polo 2002 about two weeks ago, randomly decided to get it serviced and I have these problems  :
Steering rack leaking
Rear breaks need cleaning/adjust
Lower arms worn
NSF drop link noisy
tyres worn - minor issue anyways
+ tracking

the man said it would cost between £650 - £700 including labour.
is this realistic? :|

Definitely shop around!

i've had ridiculous quotes for various things since purchasing my 9n last summer.
Garage wanted £150 for an o2 sensor and fitting, which i ended up buying off ebay for £35 delivered and fitted it myself.

Due a service next week and i've been quoted £140 for a service from a garage in my town who then tried to mug me off (over the phone might i add!) into buying a new cat. convertor in place of replacing my other o2 sensor underneath the car, whereas the garage 5 minutes from me has diagnosed my fault for free, quoted me £80 for a service plus they'll fit the other o2 sensor for free if i provide them with it.

just goes to show eh? ;)
