hi guys, been posting for awhile but not put any pics of my gti up yet. pretty much standard bar twin cupholder mod and k&n typhoon induction setup.

Hopefully over Christmas I'll be converting the car to Lupo 6speed and this should revolutionise the drive. Very much looking forward to this.

Future plans are

spax rsx coilovers or psx fixed drop kit
g60 carrier brake upgrade

pics make it look abit better than it is. not been looked after very well so really needs a good detail to get the paint back and has a few shopping trolley dents but then it is 11 years old, only 73k miles mind!

Yeah looks good though mate, kind of expect it to have a few marks with its age as you mentioned

Decent mileage though with only 73K
Sold my GTI about 4 months ago and that had just over 71K on the clock but the engines are really strong, easily good for 150K + if serviced on time.

What's your plans after the coilovers?

No further plans really, want to keep it fairly standard.

I had Spax RSX Coilovers on my GTI, great quality and really well priced too as they are fully adjustable with stainless steel threads. I originally set mine on the hardest damping setting for the cornering benefits but to be honest it was too harsh for day to day driving, in the end I got a little fed up and set the damping to the lowest setting for better comfort.

It still isnt comfortable because all coilovers are harsh regardless of the damping settings but its a lot more bearable when on a soft setting, if memory serves there are 30 settingss for the front and 20/25 for the rears.

Word of advice though if you do opt for coilovers always tape the threads when you have choosen your desired ride height, its important to grease the threads too but the tape prevents any dirt sticking to the threads and potentially causing them to seize. The good thing about the Spax RSX coilover is they have stainless threads and dont corrode like cheaper brands so you shouldnt have any issues with corrosion or seizing

Cheers Ben, some great help there. Already decided against cheap coilovers as you get what you pay for.

My other option was the spax rsx fixed drop kit, still full adjustable for rebound and and compression with none of the coilover drawbacks

Yeah a good spring & shocks set-up would also be a good option because you retain alot of the ride comfort whilst still greatly improving the handling. I havent seen anybody with the Spax fixed drop kit on a Polo GTI before but one kit with a good repuation on here is the H&R 60/40 Cup Kit, gives the car a very nice look with good performance without the discomfort of coilovers.

Really tidy mate. I'd have a red one if i got one again.

Looks real tidy, a good mopping session and if you get a dent man out to take care of the dents it will look real fresh!

It's all the little details that make these cars I think, good choice on induction kit mate, it's all about the typhoon! Ha!
