Removing GTI grille – 6N2

Hi, very simple question - how do I remove the front grille from a 6N2 GTI? Click tabs don't seem to want to come out. Have a new GTI grille badge to put on and can't get the old one off, so need to remove the grille...

Thanks,
Rich

It is just those 3 or 4 tabs along the top. I think it's 2 on each side of the VW logo. They just push towards the front of the car (I think) and then it just lifts out. You might need to use something to hold the first tabs forward while working on the others.

Getting the old GTi badge off is a near impossibly I found - had to go to my dad to do it! :|

Thanks Triggerfish.

I feel the badge difficulty - that's why I want the grille off. Will give it a go when the weather's a bit more predictable! I'm presuming it just pops out once the latches are freed (or at least that's what it looks like on the new badge).

Many thanks again,
Rich

Yeah its the 4 clips on the top, gently lift them with a flat head screw driver and then lift the grill upwards and pull it towards you.
There are two clips at the bottom where it sits into the front bumper but you just need to lift the grill upwards to free them.

Its a 2 minute job at the most but just be very careful not to break the top clips

Thanks all - have managed to do it, but will need to again. The new grille badge I have is for a Mk 4 Golf I think, and doesn't fit the Polo grille's holes!
