Clocks/Instrument resetting going blank?!

Hi guys,
I have a problem on my Polo 1.4Tdi, sometimes when I turn the car off the clocks and mileage switch off and go blank
They usually come back on after afew minutes but have to put the time back right everytime! Has anyone else had this or are the clocks faulty?
