I know that diesel's are alot louder than petrols, but mine is just ridiculous driving a 1.9 TDi 02 plate 100bhp, and it's just so loud i can hear it from other end of the street lol, is there anything to quiet it down i heard a good oil change would do the job but not sure, last serviced about 8months ago ready to get another one. Cheers

Do you still have the black sound-deadening fabric under the bonnet? I've heard some people even stick a sheet of dynamat to the underside of the bonnet with the fabric on top to reduce noise further. MOT tests also check for abnormal engine noise, so anything significant should be flagged up then. Other than that it's just a joy of diesel-engine ownership that you'll have to grow to love

Hole in exhaust or induction pipe not on properly. I know when mine blew a boost pipe it became 10x louder
