High revs

Hi folks,

I'm new here so hello but just bought a polo last month which had low revs and would sometimes cut out at junctions so I took it too my local garage who cleaned the throttle body. After cleaning the throttle body the car revs at 2000rpm and bounces up and down sometimes in revs from 1800 to 2100 but the revs never settle down below the 1800 mark.

I've searched a few forums and see this can be a common issue after throttle body cleaning but I've tried some suggested tips like disconnecting battery overnight, leaving car to idle and taking it for drives but also leaving ignition on for ten minutes so TB resets and the garage have even tried a new TB which didn't work. The garage even tried resetting the Ecu but it won't let them clear the fault even on top bosch garage software, what should I look at or do next as I've come to a dead end?

My car is a 1999 1.0 polo 6n or mark 3

Thanks for any help

This is a Mk4 not a mk3 on forum terms

You would be wise to try a different ECU
