Really want to get some of these but has anyone had any trouble when running them? Knowing my luck i'd end up with some £60 fine and points . . . Looking to get the 'road legal' ones from Dubmeister?

You'll be safe with the ones from Dubmeister, they've got the correct font and size, reflectorised background, they display the company name and postcode and the British Standards ' BS AU 145d' is printed on them too.

You shouldn't have any problems.

You'll also want to buy plate mounts (Dubmeister sell them but I think Awesome Gti do them cheaper) to avoid drilling the plates. I would avoid sticky pads personally but some people haven't reported any problems with using them.

Europl8 are really good to they gave me a card saying dear not tester/policeman then explained the rules to keep in the car.

Dubmeister plates are great, know lots of people with them that have had no problems

Heavy duty Velcro is what I'm using with mine. Holds really well.

Yeah I wanted some of the surrounds but the price was kinda putting me off, i'll check out Awesome GTi, cheers

I had never even though of using magnets Verity!

Im not 110% sure if metal plates are magnetic metal so I may be wrong. But I always thought it would be the perfect way of mounting metal plates
Saw it on a car once and thought it was genious
The person was sick of buying and taking off sticky pads when they wanted photos or to go to shows ect.
Superglued magnets to the back of their plastic plates and out tape over the top to help hold them on, and smooth it out so not to harm the bumper paintwork.
Then secured magnets to the inside of the bumper
....so even if I am wrong and the plates arnt magnetic just glue some on

Pressed plates are aluminium which isn’t magnetic unfortunately so you couldn’t use a set of magnets unless you did something clever with them (i.e sticking magnets to the plate surround & plate using adhesive and fixing them that way)

The easiest way to do it would be a set of plate surrounds which look great and give the car that German/euro look.
Alternatively you could drill through the pressed plates but that ruins them IMO

See, not so good with metals, but never fear like I mentioned above, just glue the magnets to the back of the plates and the inside of the bumper, and protect the paint from rubbing with some tape, ect

Magnetic Metal Plates - this bloke goes a bit all out, which probably isn't needed, but if gives you an idea what I mean

Yeah same, I don't fancy drilling them at all and knowing my past luck with drills i'd end up putting a hole in the wrong place loll
