Hi,

Polo 1.9d
Recently the car has started making a very loud sound when starting. I changed the starter motor, thinking this was the problem. It seems to fix it for about a week, and the noise started coming back. Now when i turn the ignition, it turns over a couple of times, followed by a small bang type noise. Once its started, the noise stops. If i've been using it for a few minutes and then try and re-start the noise completly disspapers.
It seems the noise is only apparent when doing a cold start in the morning, or start it after its not been used for a while during the day.

Any help with this will me much appriciated.

Anand

Try cleaning the airways and using a fuel cleaner, if that doesn't solve it take it to a specialist

hope that helps

maybe u got a duff reconditioned starter? are the pos and neg leads back on how they came off? is the starter correctly positioned to the flywheel? if a garage did it take it back to them. 8)
