Central Locking

Hi
Been a while since i've been on here!!!
I have a polo 6n2 8v 2000 reg.
I am using the passenger side lock to get in as the barrel on the drivers side has cracked and stopped working, however it has just started playing up. I cant unlock the door and take the key out without it re-locking the car. Also I'm not using the central locking button on the key as that has broken.
Any insight would be appreciated!!
