H&R spring broken - warranty claim?

Hi all,
Was just after some advice really... I had my new H&R springs fitted about 6 weeks ago by my local garage but unfortunately, 2 weeks after that, I hit a mammoth pothole on the drivers side front wheel, and ever since have been hearing a terrible noise from the front suspension. After a small investigation I discovered that a piece of my new spring, about 2" long, has broken off and was sitting in the plastic covering the front shock. I cannot get through to the company I got the springs from after a week of trying, and I don't want to fork out and put the old springs back on as they were severely corroded, so I'm guessing I will have to buy another set of springs

But I was wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem with aftermarket springs, has anyone had to claim on warranty before, is it going to be alot of hassle? I bought this make thinking they would probably outlive the car and now I'm terrified to drive it thinking they will all break!
Thanks in advance, Amy

Sounds like it must have been one hell of a pothole! What speed did you hit it at?
As for the warranty all goods supplied throughout Europe have a 12 month warranty as standard but there are specific guidelines in which the warranty is valid. I think the warranty would be void in your case because you have physically hit something, whereas if the springs had broke through no fault of your own then you might have a case but proving that would be difficult.
Just keep harassing the company you bought them and be forceful with your demands.
You have to be nasty to get anywhere these days, they have supplied you with springs which seem to be faulty and are potentially dangerous.
They may supply you with a new set and request the originals to be returned.

Take a photo of the hole quickly. I think most councils re-imburse for damage caused in this type of event. Could be something to look into.

Good Point Joe, I remember seeing something on the news a few years back about damaged caused by potholes.
I think the biggest stumbling block is actually proving that a particular pot-hole/grid caused the damage but it's a good shout and definitely something to look into

Thanks for the input guys, unfortunately I went back to the place I hit a week after (was 25 miles from home) and they had filled it in, I'm not sure if I'd be too late to claim?!
Finally managed to get hold of the supplier today who said they had never heard of this before but they were ok about it, I havent mentioned the pothole... Have now got to get them off to send them back to be inspected, another £80 and no springs to replace them

They said I could just send the broken one back and they will replace it, but do you think I should send them all back (if one broke this easily) for a refund and just buy a new set?

If I were you I'd be deleting this thread and ringing h'n'r direct explains that a spring has broken with no explanation........
