Your GTI engine bay

I just picked up my new GTI last night and I thought that it would be very interesting to see what people have done with theirs-any little mods/upgrades/induction kits or just very mint/clean. Not so interested in dirty standard engine pics!

I'll add one of mine shortly once I get some pics, although it's currently standard but clean.
I have some ideas for induction kit pipework, but want to see what other people have done.
Have people just mostly used the BMC CDA and K&N Typhoon ones?

That's my typhoon system wrapped in camo gun tape, Red cambelt wrinkle cover, red caps, custom cover for my header tank/strut brace wrinkle aswell.
And black inlet manifold and alternator.

Lots of colour coding and cleaning.

Both very nice! What kind of paint or red shade do you use for the rocker cover?
Just wondered if there was any reason why the K&N Typhoon system pipework was in 2 (?) pieces instead of one?

The Typhoon kit comes with a long feed and small feed on the GTI.
Craig is running the long feed in his GTI which is why you can't see the air filter, it's only visible when you are running just the small feed

Ah yes, one GTI that I looked at had the shorter version with red pipework.
Has anyone fitted one of these with most of the engine cover still in place?

I dont think you can with the Typhoon due to clearance issues with the cover and to be honest it would look awful with the cover still in place.
BMC CDA looks cool with the cover still on because the fitment is perfect, Typhoon looks best without the cover

Are the original plug leads red? As mine are black, but don't seem to fit as well in the recesses in the black plastic lead holder. Also how did you paint the rocker cover and what kind of paint?

What colour leads did the GTI come with as standard? Do you have to get certain ones for them to fit properly? As like I just mentioned, the heads of mine don't seem to fit in the plug lead recesses too well.

Yeah the gti came with red leads but some dealers used black ones when they needed replacing as I think some dealers get red or black depending on how many red ones are left. It's more luck if you get red ones mate. They do sit awkwardly in the bay I just greased mine and it seemed to slip down better.
