i prefer the pioneer, alpine is ok but still i think looks old fashion, also when using the volume control it is not smooth, it is jumpy and clicky!
ive the simular one before this one and its wicked it has so many features and sound mental. my bros got that alpine and he prefers the one i have at the mo.
in the end its really what functions and looks you want so its personal choise.

Alpine. They're known for their sheer quality, whereas Pioneer are known for sheer unreliability.

I'm still drawn to the Pioneer for looks. Heres hoping the reliability issue doesn't affect speakers, as all my rears are Pioneer
Thanks.
Karl.

Alpine, I'm not convinced by these headunits with hundreds of gimmicks, I want straightforward quality!

Alpine all the way... But not the CDA-9815. I have the new CDA-9835R and it's amazing. Beautifull display and sound (even with the factory front speakers).

That CDA-9835R is real smart-looking. Presumably it copes fine with the VW changer? Thought I was happy with building a 'stealth' system on the standard gamma unit but I want one of these now... its lurrrvley
How much, if you don't mind me asking??

I'm from Portugal but I bought my radio in Spain (mail delivered by a company like UPS and that stuff). The radio itself was 500€ (300€ cheaper than in Portugal and rest of the Europe) and then more 40€ of delivery charges and payment method tax. I haven't regreat a bit the money I spent! The deck is awsome
About VW CD changer as far I know there isn't no aftermarket unit that can control it nor exists an adapter for it.

Sorry but I don't share your opinion! As far as visuals Alpine is not the better but we are talking about sound... And in this matter Alpine is one of the top 3 companies like Nakamichi and Eclipse.
