A few questions on GTI's- can you help?!

Few small questions! I’m new to Polo GTI’s so don’t know as much as I do about mk.2 Golfs!

1.) Does the black textured plastic base to the wing mirror housing separate from the painted part that houses the mirror? The painted part of mine is fine, but there is a scuff on the black textured part that is bugging me.

2.) Did any of the rear seat backs come with carpet on the back? I just bought a good condition spare seat set and this set has grey carpet on the back, but most I’ve seen haven’t had the carpet. If it isn’t a standard thing, it’s been done well!

3.) I’ve been having some probs with the the keyfob opening the door by remote. I’m getting a new battery, but is there anything else it could be?

4.) I’ve had problems with the passenger side window. It had a new window motor etc replaced 6 months ago. The switches feel fine, is there anything else it could be apart from the switches or the wiring? The switch on the passenger side and driver’s side (for the passenger side) don’t seem to make it go up, but sometimes after I’ve taken the key out of the ignition and put it back in, then the window has automatically gone up! Any ideas?

5.) Are mud flaps for 6N2 Polo’s the same as 6N Polo’s?

Think that’s it for now, but I’m sure there are other things! Lol!

Cheers for any help! :D

1) Yes. Mine's in pieces at the minute! It just pulls off, but is very very stiff. There might have been one clip, but as you lever it upwards you can see in around the edges to confirm this. Once the inner door card is off it can be removed from the car with 3 screws too.

2) Not to my knowledge, no.

3) What sort of problems? Doesn't always work, poor range. . .?

4) Checked the fuses? A blown fuse anywhere in the system can cause wired sorts of behaviour.

5) Not sure!

I had to topen up my key-fob, to find out if it took the one larger battery or two small ones. Whilst doing that, I also cleaned it up a little getting he dust and dirt out from any little recesses etc and strangely enough once I'd put it back together it worked worked first time each time I used it last night! I got a new battery anyway, so will see how it goes!

Oh, another one I've just thought of! On the GTI badges, is the red in the 'I' of the GTI badge, paint/enamel or just a vinyl etc sticker?

Lose connection or something maybe?

Think it's a sticker as mine didn't have the red bits on when I got it, but there was a recess on the i for the sticky bits to go into. I've since stolen a red one off my old Golf with and the red isn't quite straight, so I guess it's stuck on.

I used red B&Q electrical tape for a while which looked alright until it faded. :(

That's handy to know as a lot of people buy complete new badges, like I have just done, but if it's a kind of vinyl material, I'll just get a sign-writers to make up to little pieces for the 'I' s on the front and rear GTI badges. Shouldn't cost much as they're so small!
