I have a 2000 1.4 polo s that beeps at random time whilst driving. It always beeps 3 time and is not showing any faults codes or warning lights. Also the engine management light will come on but not at the same time as the beeps. The other problem that i have is that the rev counter is not working but i dont know if these threw problems are related or not. So any help would be great thanks

Just to update i have found the problem with the rev counter and all i can say is chimps with tools as someone has took the dials apart and removed part of the internals for the rev counter

So here is an update. I have changed the dials and the beeping is still happening but now ot happens with the oil warning light comming on. I have checked the oil level and thats good and was thinking about changing the oil pressure sensor as a start. Any ideas from anyone would be good

oil pressure sensors are known to fail a lot, replace this as not expensive, also check wires to sensor mine was hanging by a strand and gave me dodgy readings as soon as i pulled it it came off in my hand at the connector, I re soldered it on and its been fine since.

Thank you for the help. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor and visualy checked over the wires but this hasnt fixed it . I have seen that some suppliers spec two different sensors and i was wondering if there are 2 fitted. The one that i have changed is fitted by the coil pack.

Does the wire for the oil pressure sensor run through the ecu or does it go direct to the dials

Having taken the cam cover off it looks like there has been no oil getting to the camshaft bearing area as its scored . Should the camshaft have bearings or is it done by oil pressure. Anyway i think it might be new engine time . Has anyone got a 1.4 8v akk engine that they dont need and are based in the nottingham area
