TDI POWER LOSS

I`ve got a 52 plate 1.9 tdi ATD,just on the m61 tonight on my way home, accelerating from around 60mph on the entry slip road i felt the power slightly drop off around 2700,and from then on it had no guts really although i was able to cruise along and get up to around 70/75mph,but i did`nt have any power from that to overtake like i`d normally have. apart from this the car ran fine and did`nt miss a beat. no engine man. light showing. it felt like it had no turbo boost actually.
i got home and plugged my cheapie fault code reader in and it showed nothing,no codes or mil on...turned everything off while i took my lad in the house, went back out and give it a quick spin and normal power is resumed.
this is the second time it`s happened, the first being around two weeks ago (on exactly the same stretch of the m61  ),but has been faultless since...has anyone near north manchester got access to vagcom, and maybe have a plug in for me ?
has anyone had anything similar on their`s ?
i realise that it`s obviously got something wrong, just that when i`ts intermittent i gets a bit more difficult to find.
oh just to add,it`s totally standard,on 91k.

The car is going into Limp-mode for some reason. It won't normally appear on the dash or even appear as a fault code, it's just a system to protect the engine from potential damage (or a faulty sensors perception of potential damage) and normal mode resumes when the car is turned off and started again.

In your case what I can't put my finger on is the cause. Last time I put my tdi into limp mode I was in the redline and caused an overboost

This can happen a lot when the veins or the turbo become blocked and you just end up losing boost altogether until you've turned off and on again.

I had this problem.. The MAF next to the air box, take it out and spray electrical contact cleaner all over it inside the little cracks and let it dry! Shouldn't take too long mine was doing same cutting out going to like 60mph... This simple £3 fix cued it!

thanks for the replies chaps..i was having a look on briskoda last night too and there seems to be quite a few vrs that have suffered from the turbo veins sticking, but it looks as though it`s not too difficult a fix, even in situ.
i`ll also give the maf sensor a clean too.

Go give it a good hard thrash to get egt up and burn soot off ur veins. If they arnt too blocked then you should get away with this.
