vag com and the gti

Hopefully someone on here can help me sort out a VagCom issue when trying to use it on my 2000 gti

I have got VagCom 409-1 installed on my laptop and have used it to reset fault codes with a lead I borrowed from a friend. As far as I am aware the lead was just a cheap on off ebay or amazon.

However after purchasing a cheap lead off ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271036790042? ... 1497.l2649) I have had no joy.

Is this an issue of another dodgy cheap lead or do I need to purchase a different sort.

Also has anyone had any joy using a bluetooth version instead of a cable?

I have tried doing some research but the software and leads seem to be something of a grey area.

Any help would be appreciated.

Install VCDS lite from Rosstech and check you are using the FT drivers from here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Also check your COM port in device manager is set to 9600bps and the Baud Rate in the VCDS lite settings matches this.

+1 for the baud rate being set o 9600 in vcds mine wouldn't read anything until I'd sorted this out someone said it was useless for reading codes and too slow, but the serial interface is ideally set up for 9600 so this is not a problem and it sorted mine out a treat.

Thanks for the messages.

Managed to get it working by dropping the baud rate after matching the com ports.
