I have a 2002 Polo tdi and it has an interesting issue at idle.

it feels like it goes onto 2 cylinders if left to idle..... until, you pres the clutch in, as soon as you do that it idles perfectly.

let the clutch up, wonky idle again.

It is also having an abs issue and the two appeared at the same time - abs is bad connection somewhere as it sometimes is OK - no abs light - perfect idle.

any suggestions???

Re abs check the connections as they can be prone to water ingress I am just after rewiring the abs on the passenger side due the like coming on and off and eventually failing all together. The idle 1.4tdi's dont idle that well at the best of times it could be many things. Best to get a garage to have a look at it.
