6n2 temp cluster problem

hi got problem with my tempreture cluster drive it for a while tempretur will be fine but then will make a creaking noise and the temp will drop to 0. got it put on computer sensor are fine it something behind the clock any idea its bugging the hell out of me thanks

Could you tell me where the sensor is located and do you have any idea on how much they are? My temp guage has not worked for years and I know the clocks are OK.

Pretty sure this is on the right hand side o the engine. They're aroun £40 from vw I believe.

Thats correct but trust me - if its not a genuine VW sensor, itll likely fail again.

Thats a different sensor mate.
The one we are talking about is the engine temperature not the outside sensor.
There have been multiple cases where these have failed if not genuine replacements.

The outside sensor goes behind the front bumper in front of the air con condensing rad.

Engine temp is a 4 pin
