Hi all,
My 2001 GTi needs a new aircon pressure switch which I've ordered and may attempt to fit myself if someone could tell me whereabouts it is under the bonnet?
Easy job?
Thanks.

High or low pressure?
Interesting yours has failed. These very rarely fail.

er...I don't know.
All I know is that my garage said that the aircon compressor wasn't kicking in and that I'd either need a new pressure switch at £75 or a new compressor at £700.
I went for the switch which is coming tomorrow and they said it was an easy job to do.
Another garage says I have to re-gas the entire system which I have just spent £50 re-gassing.

Have you got the part number of what you ordered? Without knowing which one I can't provide the instructions
There's a good chance you'll need to regas again

Thanks again Alex, the switch didn't turn up and so I cancelled the order after speaking to an air-con guy.
He said it may well be the electric feed to the compressor and he has never experienced a pressure switch failure.
Air-con seems to be a bit of a dark science, he says there are many things to check and eliminate, which of course means ££'s.

My air con doesnt work but if i took a direct 12v feed to the compressor it worked fine, spent ages in the summer looking into it, I replaced the pressure switch and the fan control module still no luck, I think mine might be something to do with the fan which I have never ever heard run slow or fast, had me stumped really.
dont think the car has its the original fan as the male and female connectors dont mate together and wasnt actually connected! had to botch that together, does run though when i bridge the connection.
i looked at this video and did this and it only ran on the slower speed if i remember correctly, not sure if that would prevent the supply voltage to the compressor?

I was wondering if you could shed any light on it Alex?
Thanks

The fan is supposed to be a twin speed fan with three wires(I think)
It runs at a slow speed when air con is on, and high if the engine is overheating etc
The fan has to run properly or air con won't work properly
