Stiff gear changes

Was it just the cables they replaced verity?

'Gear linkage' was all I know
Jack was driving one day and it suddenly stopped going into gear, I thought he was joking at first but realised he wasn't, ha managed to coast all the way home lol, so glad I wasn't driving at the time!
He phone vw and ordered the part, then coasted it to VW the following day for me and got it all fixed, so I never even saw what I was buying lol
Part was like £50 or so by memory
