Standard boost confusion!

Hi guys, just fitted a boost gauge and when I took it out for a spin to make sure all was working it was hitting 2 bar and over? Surely this isn't right on the standard Map. I was thinking like 1.2-1.4 max! Any ideas what could cause this? Or is the boost gauge just sh*t?

Hi Mate,

Sounds like your gauge is reading atmospheric pressure as well as the boost if your getting levels that are that high.

Where is your take off for the boost gauge?

Cheers for the reply. Taking it off the intercooler pipe that runs down the side of the cambelt.. I was taking it off the egr delete but thought this might be causing the problems but then swapped it to the IC pipe but still reading really high!

Struggling to be honest mate i'm assuming the gauge reads 0 when the engine is on tick over?

I have got a boost reading on a data monitor and that reads 15psi on tickover and peaks at 34psi what gauge are you using?

Ye its at 0 in tick over then goes up to over 2 bar. The vains on the turbo are shot so I'm hoping its this, but picking up the car tomorrow with its new hybrid so will see if anything has changed then! Can't remember the name of it mate

Thats probably whats causing it then mate, keeep us posted on how it is with the new turbo :D
