Its been a beauty...and I will miss it.

White 2011 Polo Gti
Before I hand my polo gti back to the leasing company, I'd like to share my thoughts about the vehicle.
I looked into a hatchback of the Polo's size and test drove the Clio, Alfa Mito, Audi A1 and BMW 1 series. For the performance, value, practicality, efficiency and depreciation I didn't think there was a better all-rounder. The main thing that I was happy about was the handling and performance. It was a little scorcher and if I was going to score the bigger golf gti 5/5 then the polo comes very close 4/5.
In terms of the performance, on a good day the 0-60 times are almost identical to the manufacturers claims. I have averaged 44mpg and driven approx 20k miles over 2 years. I have topped up the oil twice during that period, on top of the services the car has had. There hasn't been any malfunctions of the vehicle and the stock tyres have stood up well despite some reasonably hard driving. I've used a combination of super unleaded and unleaded petrol with no real noticeable drop in performance nor big improvement.
There have been some big regular journeys and the car has been very comfortable and I have to admit I have thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle being an automatic. The gearbox hasn't missed a beat. In fact the flappy paddle gearbox has been awesome, the times I've used the paddles it has positively contributed to the driving experience.
There were no extras on the vehicle but I would have liked a Bluetooth mobile connection and satnav. If I chose another VAG vehicle I would get both these options.
I understand some people have had trouble with oil consumption but I never really noticed anything excessive.
