Hey,

So I had that annoying feeling of going to the car park after work and seein a scratch which made me feel like I'd been sodomized.

How do you guys deal with it? Can these be easily repaired by a body shop without the whole panel needing done? Or do you just leave them.

Looking at the picture ( it's not easy to tell how deep it is ) but a lot of that may polish out. But if it is to deep then possibly get a good recommended smart repair company to come and touch it up.

That'd likely come out with a little T-cut or the likes to be honest, no need for a bodyshop

Bad times I know how you feel, I was driving round Lytham the other day and I was pulling in and asked my mrs how close I was (not wanting to mount the kerb - new wheels on etc) she says yeah loads of room I was doing 2mph if that so I moved the wheel maybe 1% and scratchhhhhh... Nice kerb rash on my new wheel grrrr I said what were you looking at and she said well it was fine at the back :/ if looks could kill I'd be getting sent down hahaha, anyway back on subject when I go out I always park miles away from anyone like at asda etc and somehow somebody feels its ok to snuggle up close . I've seen on amazon or eBay some touch up pens so if tcut doesn't work maybe try that

T-cut followed by Auto-Glym super resin polish and do it loads of times over in the same order........give it a try, usually works.

Can you feel the scratch if you run your fingernail over it? If not it will most likely polish out no problem..good excuse to do the whole car then

You want to get some G3 scratch remover on there! It's amazingly stuff, I wouldn't use SRP as it will just fill it and will eventually wash away, T-CUT will inflict a load of swirls which to me looks like perfectly good paint.

My friend was guiding me into a multi-storey parking space and failed to tell me that I was going to scrape my wingmirror on a pillar :/ it's not as bad as a door scratch though, still I'll be keeping an eye on this

Haha. They're so annoying I'd rather go to a body shop as the paint is great and I'd make a real horelicks of it. God knows what it'd cost though. Probably most of this months pay lol

Get a smart repairer to come out to you! Not sure if they have chipsaway in Ireland? Relatively cheap and they will normally do it at your place of work or at home.

A product I would highly recommend is Meguires Ultimate Compound. It allows you to put in a fair amount of elbow grease without creating more scratches/swirls. The quickest way to get that out would be to use a fine grade sandpaper and water followed by a rubbing compound like Meguires. If you're not confident using sandpaper stick to compound only, you will get the same result but it will take longer. After removing the scratch get a good quality wax on there like AutoGlym / Meguires.

It doesn't look like a big scratch. That's only a 5 minute jobby! Just use some t-cut, go over with some polish and job done. You can't make it worse

I really would end up scratching the entire door and causing swirls etc if I tried to fix it myself

You can't go wrong mate! You won't cause swirls with t-cut as the purpose of the product is to remove swirls! Just put some t-cut on a mirco fiber cloth and rub it onto just the scratch. Then buff off and apply some polish and your laughing!
