There seems to be a small amount of smoke coming from the front grille when im in traffic and the car is hot

At first I thought it was becasue I have removed the sound insulation from under the bonnet as it seemed to only happen in the rain. But I noticed it the other day in beeming sunshine

Its not a consistant below of smoke, it seemed to be when I drove forward a bit, stopped.. small amount of smoke would appear then stop

Any ideas?

Any odd smells or coolant loss?

Actaully, now you mention it.. the coolant light did come on a week or two ago. Any ideas why/where it would be leaking from?

The rads are known to be weak on the gti, I'd be pulling the bumper off if necessary and looking for any antifreeze staining on the rad

If its steaming on a hot day and there's a leak its going to be dripping on something hot others wise it wouldn't evaporate
Around the exhaust manifold/turbo area maybe
